Who we are

At Second City Housing, our core ethos revolves around serving those in our community who are most in need of housing. We are dedicated to delivering a comprehensive and reliable service that empowers our customers to lead independent lives. Our team of highly trained professionals is committed to adopting a holistic approach, ensuring that each customer receives a customized, person-centered support plan.

Furthermore, we understand that some of our customers may be facing financial hardship, which is why we offer support to connect them with food banks.

We have established partnerships with three prominent organisations to make these foodbank services available:

1. Tesco’s – Through our collaboration with FareShare, we engage in food redistribution efforts, ensuring that surplus food reaches those who need it most.
2. As-Suffa Institute – We work closely with this organization to provide assistance to individuals and families in need of essential food supplies.
3. Salma Food Bank – Another valuable partner, Salma Food Bank, plays a crucial role in our mission to alleviate food insecurity in our community.

At Second City Housing, we are dedicated to making a meaningful impact on the lives of those we serve, offering not only housing solutions but also vital support to address their immediate needs.

Support

We actively collaborate with our customers to create personalised support plans, tailored to their specific needs and aspirations. These plans encompass a range of essential elements, including:

1. Enhancing Life Skills: We focus on improving essential life skills that empower our customers to lead self-sufficient and fulfilling lives.
2. Budget Management and Debt Consolidation: We assist individuals in effectively managing their finances, including budgeting and addressing debt concerns.
3. Training and Volunteering Opportunities: Our holistic approach extends to offering training and volunteering opportunities that foster personal growth and development.

At the core of our support plans is a commitment to ensuring that our customers seamlessly transition toward independent living. While their journey may commence in supported accommodation, our robust services are designed to facilitate their progression to social housing or independent units provided by our organization.

For those moving into independent living accommodations under our purview, we offer a comprehensive 12-week transition support plan. This not only equips them with valuable skills but also heightens their self-awareness, instilling in them the excitement and confidence to embark on the next phase of their lives.

Engagement

At the heart of our mission is the empowerment of our customers through their engagement with external partners. We take pride in offering our customers the chance to connect with the following organisations:

1. Enter Key
2. Birmingham Mind
3. Job Ready

Additionally, we provide all our customers with the opportunity to participate in enriching workshops held at our offices. These workshops not only offer valuable support but also foster social connections, enabling them to interact with fellow residents and share their life experiences. Our workshop program spans over a four-week period and covers a range of topics, including:

1. Life Skills
2. Drug Awareness
3. Recognizing the Signs of Abuse
4. Interview Techniques

We are committed to providing a well-rounded experience that equips our customers with essential life skills and knowledge while creating a supportive and inclusive community within our organisation.
